Cultiply

What do we do?

Cultiply is a one-stop partner for carrying out your fermentation projects, from the idea phase to industrial production.

We develop the bioprocess on laboratory and pilot scale, then design bioreactors adapted specifically to your production process.

This 360º vision ensures we can find solutions for everything you might need. It’s our philosophy, and we call it intelligent fermentation.

SERVICES

Your fermentation specialist

We take your project to the next level, find solutions for all your needs, and accompany you throughout the process until your product idea becomes a reality. We design, develop, optimise and scale your fermentation process, and can manufacture your biological compounds according to your needs.

Whatever it is, we can take care of it.

Applied microbiology

We use both traditional and cutting-edge microbiology techniques to isolate, identify and improve microorganisms.

Upstream

20 years of experience go into designing and scaling your fermentation process.

Downstream

20 years of experience go into designing and scaling your fermentation process.

We isolate microorganisms from environmental samples and identify those of interest to the project based on their activity.

By sequencing the 16s ribosomal RNA regions or ITS sequences, we can taxonomically identify both prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms.

We use different applied microbiology techniques to improve microorganisms, adapt them to a particular nutritional source, or optimise the production of a certain metabolite.

Using molecular biology techniques, we design and build strains for the overproduction of high added value compounds, such as recombinant proteins, special fatty acids, or enzymes with industrial applications, among others.

We develop and optimise the culture medium using a methodology based on design of experiments (DoE).

We put our more than 20 years of experience to use to optimise the most important process variables, such as temperature, pH, agitation or gas flow to achieve a high-performance, scalable and safe production system.

Cultiply has a modern production plant equipped with bioreactors of different scales. Using this technology, we can scale the bioprocess to check its robustness and reproducibility up to an industrial level.

Centrifugation is a widely used method for separating microbial biomass from the supernatant, although it also allows the fractionation of different cellular components.

Cell disruption is a process used to release the cellular contents. It has several functions, including the recovery of proteins or other intracellular compounds, to inactivate cultures or yield extracts from them.

At Cultiply, we use tangential flow filtration as a process for increasing  cell concentration or to fractionate or concentrate different cellular components including proteins, lipids and organelles.

Freeze-drying is a downstream process that Cultiply uses as a method of preserving microorganisms and proteins, among other biological components.

The Spray-Drying technique is used as a system for drying and preserving biological products. It evaporates most of the moisture from a product and is a cost-effective and robust process.

Protein purification comprises a series of techniques whose function is the separation of one or more target proteins from a complex sample.
